Frequently Asked Questions

Find clear, practical answers to frequently asked questions about practising in Ireland — including registration with IMC, NMBI & CORU, English language requirements (OET/IELTS), document notarisation, visa guidance, and on-arrival support. Use this FAQ to check eligibility, prepare documents and speed up your application process.

What are the basic eligibility requirements?

Candidates must hold a recognized medical, nursing or therapy qualification, submit notarised academic certificates (SSLC/10th onwards), provide an English proficiency score (OET preferred or IELTS Academic), and have a valid passport.

Which English test should I take — OET or IELTS?

OET is preferred for clinical roles because it uses healthcare-specific language. IELTS Academic is also accepted by many regulators; check the specific IMC/NMBI/CORU score requirements for your profession.

How do I submit my documents?

Email scanned notarised copies of your certificates, mark sheets, OET/IELTS scorecard, and CV to your registered DRBI email address. Use descriptive filenames (e.g., Surname_OET_Result.pdf).

Do documents need to be notarised?

Yes — academic certificates and mark sheets must be notarised. Some regulators and employers may also request primary-source verification directly from issuing institutions.
